Red Wagon Toys
A New Website for an Old Favorite
When Seattle natives John and Lisa acquired Red Wagon Toys, a beloved Madison Park staple, they saw a chance to refresh its online presence. Excited to welcome this neighborhood favorite into their family business, they reached out to us to create a new website that would give this beloved neighborhood shop an online space to shine, while connecting shoppers with their sister store, Guppies, in nearby Tacoma and offer the convenience of online shopping.
Background
The Red Wagon site they inherited was outdated and not mobile-friendly, with minimal content and no online shopping function.
With the acquisition nearing, we launched a responsive Squarespace solution in just days that that works on all devices and allows for future growth and seamless shopping integrations that Lisa and John are already familiar with.
We worked closely with John and Lisa to build a site map and content plan that covered the essentials: who we are, what we do, why we do it, and where to find us. Websites must do more than just look great, so we started with their "why," and crafted written content for each page. We also made a visit to the store to get some video for use in the header. These elements help tell their unique story, add credibility and connect with their audience.
Our Approach
A key part of that story was weaving this new family of stores together. Not only to add potential new audiences for each store but without an online inventory for Red Wagon ready at launch, we wanted to give Lisa and John a way to direct customers to their online Guppies inventory.
As they continue to modernize operations at Red Wagon, they’ll have the ability to easily integrate familiar Shopify tools into this new site.
We also wanted to make sure people could find us to shop in-person. The new contact page has the basic tools the old site was missing, like click-to-navigate and click-to-call functionality.

Fine Tuning the Brand for Web
Once we began work, we realized the existing logo files we had to work with were not optimized to be used in a lot of spaces and would create legibility issues.
We took the opportunity to redraw the logo and refine it for use on everything from the website to new point of sale systems in the store.
We also built out a more full system for the brand so it could be used effectively anywhere.
